She played two seasons at Mira Costa High in Manhattan Beach, Calif., for coach Dae Lea Aldrich...played on the 2006 national championship team...member of the 2005 and 2006 state championship squads and 2006 CIF championship squad...earned the scholar-athlete award all four years and received recognition in mathematics...played club volleyball for Hibiscus, Surfside VBC and Mizuno Long Beach...played on teams that took second place in the 18 Open division at the 2006 and 2007 Junior Olympics.

Shelby Leigh Avol was born on May 26, 1989...parents are Ed and Cindi...has one brother, Dustin and two sisters, Mackenzie and Hayley...brother, Dustin, was a three-year letterwinner (2000-02) for the USC men's volleyball team...Mackenzie has a master's degree from USC while Hayley also is a USC graduate...favorite movies are Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine, Wedding Crashers and Aladdin...favorite television shows are Family Guy, Reno 911, Lost and Flight Of The Conchords...enjoys listening to Jack Johnson, Pepper, Ben Harper, The Beatles and Harry and the Potters...majoring in business.
